Filed in Tips — May 5, 2024

Designing a perfect website for your website can be fun! However there are people that can forget about the must-have elements needed to make your website user friendly & just perfect in design. Now, we get it! You want to launch right away, but before you do read this. You’ll thank us later!

  1. Clear Navigation: Intuitive navigation ensures visitors can easily find what they’re looking for.

If anything this is an absolute must! This allows your clients or guest to be able to find this easily without frustration or having to email you to find said item. An example: Airbnb’s website features a simple and intuitive navigation menu that makes it easy for users to explore different listings and booking options, by adding where in the country, what specific town and etc.

2. Responsive Design: A design that adapts seamlessly to different devices and screen sizes.

When it comes to scrolling on the internet about over 60% of website traffic comes from a mobile device. That means your website should be not only desktop friendly but also mobile friendly. Because let’s be honest, If we’re trying to get a product and the mobile design doesn’t fit we’re scroll off your site.

3. Visual Hierarchy: Organize content in a way that guides the user’s attention to the most important elements.

VISUALLS!! from arrows, lines, photo placement to colors. I mean, we know you know. It takes 5 seconds for someone to decide if they want to stay or not. Make those 5 seconds count by using clear instructions to find an item or point to a sale.

4. Compelling Imagery: High-quality visuals that enhance the aesthetic appeal and communicate the brand’s message effectively.

This goes hand in hand with your visual hierarchy. The image attracts the client, allowing for more information to be digest by client. Make sure those images match your brand, the item your selling or the story your selling.

5. Consistent Branding: Maintain consistency in colors, fonts, and imagery to reinforce brand identity.

In the world of branding, it’s easy for us to distinguish a certain brand from their fonts to their colors. For example:  Coca-Cola’s website maintains consistent branding through its use of the brand’s signature red color, iconic logo, and messaging that reinforces its brand values and identity. Or even Zara, from their simplistic font to their editorially unhinged images ;).

6. Readable Typography: clean and legible typography, ensuring that articles and stories are easy to read and engaging for users.

Did you know that nobody wants to be squinting to see whats on your website? Let’s be honest, as a design company we love fonts. But sometimes we have to realize that some people can’t read the tiny cursive font we find so chic with san serif accompanied with it. Bummer! we get it. One thing we can say, pair all your fonts you’d like to use together, see how legible they are as well as if it fits the brand aesthetic.

7. Whitespace: Use whitespace effectively to prevent clutter and give content room to breathe.

When your creating a simple website or with many design elements. Having whitespace allows to the viewer to see all the information on your site.

8. Call to Action (CTA): Clearly defined CTAs that prompt visitors to take the desired action.

Just like number 6, having clear information will get your viewers to the places you’d like. a Clear call to action needs to be short but legible.

9. Fast Loading Speed: Optimize images and minimize code to ensure quick loading times.

Large image files and large moving graphics can hinder your loading. Always make sure that your images are websize friendly and you don’t have too many moving graphics on one page. By moving graphics we mean rotating fonts or count downs.
